Domus-II

This is a single-story residence ideal for suburban lots, or wide urban lots with large rear yards. The footprint is derived from a 56’-0” x 56’-0” square, organized on a 4’-0” x 4’-0” grid.

Inspired by mid-century modernism, this residence features a striking 2 way shed roof with deep overhangs. Continuous ribbons of clerestory windows create a break between the roof structure and the perimeter walls, thus making the entire roof assembly appear as if its draped over the main massing.

There are limited openings on the street side for maximum privacy. The floor plan becomes more porous in the rear, blurring the lines between indoors and outdoors. This is ideal to engage the more private rear yard.
